Although the health care business is generally said to be recession proof during economic downturn, Pharmaniaga is not spared this time round. However, the health care arm of UEM Group says it is cautiously optimistic of achieving its FY09 KPIs, which is to grow revenue by 6% and to see return on equity of 15%. Meanwhile, Pharmaniaga is strategizing its regional expansion into Southeast Asian markets, particularly Indonesia and Vietnam.
